How To Add Your Blog to Your CV

Blogging is excellent to have on your CV. Blogging pushes you into a world of creativity. For me anyway, I love experimenting new styles of writing, photography and editing. It increases your expertise and gives you a platform to showcase your knowledge. It’s an online portfolio and if it’s something you work hard on, why not show it off?

Having your blog on your CV can be beneficial if it’s related to the industry you are applying to. For example, a fashion blog. Can be perfect if you’re applying to a stylist job or a seamstress.

Even if your blog is not in relation to the job you want, in my opinion you should still add it. Having a blog which is active shows hard-work, passion and determination. Your skills should always be showcased.

Including a blog will make you a stronger candidate if your blog is strong. But if you’re adding blogging to your CV – be sure it’s to the standard you want it. If you’ve been blogging for a year and you post 1 post every 2-3 months with bad quality photos and no logo etc. Take that into account before adding it to a resume.

It should be something you’re proud to showcase. I’ve worked so hard on my blog in all aspects from photography, content creation, to my writing style. You can see my progress and development with my blog.

When it comes to adding your blog to your CV. Treat it like you would any other job. I also add it to my ‘About Me’ section as it’s a big part of my life. For my, I blog twice a week. So it takes up a lot of my time.

I’ve done a quick roundup of what you should include, I always just touch on the basics of what would help in the job field. Your media kit will do the talking when it comes around to partnerships and sponsors. I just did a basic mock up but obviously depending on the job, you could focus more on a certain sections. E.g a social media job – focus on social media strategies, content development, traffic analysis etc.

I’m hoping this will help you with adding your CV to your blog. If you’ve worked hard on it, why not show it off! I’ve also written a piece on 13 Blogging Tips I Wish I Knew Earlier which might benefit you.
