My Affordable Skincare Routine
As a keen lover of anything beauty or skincare related – I’m always looking to see what’s new on the market. But with my luck I suffer with rosacea making those cheeks always rosy. I also have the pleasure of having eczema, so when I use a product with a bit too much perfume. My skin reacts quick and lets me know I can’t use it. I’ve learnt to shop for a lot of natural skincare, which actually work quite well for me as there is no harsh ingredients.
Not to mention, this way makes my skincare routine so affordable. My products are nothing that fancy, but they work so well for me so I’m happy.
My Morning Routine –
La Roche Posay Anti Redness Moisturiser –
For my flushed rosy cheeks this Anti Redness Moisturiser is a life saver. When I wake up. I wash & cleanse my face and then I apply it all over my face. It has a green tint which neutralises the redness on my cheeks. It’s a light cream so doesn’t feel too heavy. I don’t feel like it has assisted in getting rid of the rosacea, but I don’t think it’s meant too. It just neutralises it when applied which is perfect for when I’m applying my make up.
Trilogy Rosehip Oil –
After I wash, cleanse and moisturise. I apply my Trilogy Rosehip Oil which is an organic and natural oil. Using 2 drops which I apply to my cheeks about 1-3 times a week. For my cheeks, chin and forehead, I really like this oil. I used to apply it before bed but I think it works well in the mornings for me. It absorbs into your skin quickly and doesn’t have a scent. It’s helped reduce my rosacea a lot and has evened out my skin tone quite a lot. I have been using it for about well over a year now.
La Roche Posay Repair Balm –
This repair balm has worked wonders for me. When I got rid of my eczema, I used Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream religiously and then moved onto E45 Cream which I have to say got rid of it altogether. Since I haven’t had a massive flare up in a few years, I need to be careful with the products I apply to my extremely sensitive skin. La Roche Posay Repair Balm essential if I’m beginning to get a bit of eczema again. It’s quite a thick cream which really cools & soothes your skin. It helps lock in a lot of moisture and is a dream if you have dry skin. I also end up putting some on my cracked lips in winter, works a charm! I apply this to my arms/legs once I dry off from the shower.
My Night Routine –
Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel –
I’ve been using this product for as long as I can remember now. This product feels good, looks good, smells good. It removes bright lipstick to even hard to get mascara. Clarins Pure Melt leaves my face feeling refreshed, clean and soft. It’s a real comforting product and helps with relaxation, the smell is luxurious. It’s made with marula oil which is amazing for making the skin glow and look more radiant! Apply a small amount and and add water to emulsify.
Trilogy Gentle Face Exfoliant –
As you can see I’m a big fan of the natural products. This exfoliate contains rosehip, jojoba and camellia. It’s the best exfoliant I’ve ever used. It’s so kind to the skin and makes it feel amazing and so smooth! My skin looks brighter, cleaner and most importantly less congested and blackhead free! This exfoliant is a staple in my skincare bag! The exfoliating particles are very fine making it gentle on the skin. I use 1-2 a week and I’m happy with just that.
Tree Tea Oil –
Tea tree oil is excellent for skin. It’s a well known tried and tested treatment for acne. If I ever get a spot, I pop on a tiny bit of tea tree oil on it. I’d go asleep and the next morning it’s usually gone or else reduced greatly! Tea tree oil is also a great cure for dry skin. It’s quite harsh alone so by mixing about five small spoons of tea tree oil to one small spoon of coconut oil and massage it gently onto your skin. It helps to keep your skin hydrated for longer. Leaving it feeling soft, supple with a glow.
Coconut Oil –
I’ve heard about the tales of coconut oil for years but I never bothered to get any. I saw a shop selling this one for €3 so I said I’d try it. Oh did I wish I tried this years ago! This product has been the holy grail for me! It has reduced the redness on my skin completely. I wake up in the morning and my skin is glowing and feeling so fresh.
It’s extremely oily which you need to be careful of when applying. I use about half a pea size and apply to my cheeks, chin and forehead and bring the remainder down my neck. If you check the pictures above, you can see how quickly it melts. It takes ages to dry in, so it’s definitely better to apply at night. It hydrates and repairs my skin.
I use it for my hair aswell the day before I need to wash it so I sleep with it in, it feels and looks amazing after washing and really minimizes split ends. Coconut oil can be used as a body cream or even to take your make up off. I would really recommend getting this all natural product, such a bargain!
Lemon juice –
I drink a cup of hot water lemon everyday. I’ve been doing so for as long as I can remember.
Lemon juice is amazing for your skin. It works as a natural brightener as they are filled with Vitamin C which help lighten and brighten the skin! You can add natural yoghurt to lemon juice to make your own face mask without any chemicals added. All natural ingredients.
I usually cut the lemon into slices, rinse them with water and then squeeze the juice into a cotton pad and rub gently over my face. Be careful if you’re trying this that you have no dry patches or cuts on your face. It could sting and cause irritation. The lemon juice has really helped reduce my blackheads. I only do this 1-3 times a week.
I always have a slice of lemon ready in the fridge for my morning routine!
