When I was younger, my mum bought me a pair of backless shoes. I remember having to wear them and loathing them. I hated them so much, I thought she was trying to embarrass me with them. Now, I think I’ve ordered a few pairs of black backless loafers to cure my Gucci cravings. Ask me ten years ago if I’d wear a pair of backless shoes again, I would have laughed. Look at me now, obsessed!
I am terrible when it comes to wearing all black. I sometimes find it hard to find the top I want to wear amongst all the black clothes I already own.
“Does it come in black?” – is honestly my most used phrase during any shopping day I have. I find it funny, being a fashion blogger and constantly wearing the same colours. (I’m trying to get better, I promise.) One of the most important lessons in fashion is knowing how to make your wardrobe, and your money—stretch. I know wearing black, it can be worn with any other colour and will most definitely compliment what you want to pair it with. One minute you might want a more glam look and the next you might be all about comfort. (The constant struggle I live with) I never have a problem with re-wearing my clothes and it’s always great when you create something new and fresh from something you already have. When you can use your favorite go-to piece to put together a look for any occasion, without spending a penny.
Bomber jackets are still big thing for Autumn, so I’m showing you how to take it casual with just a few, basic affordable black pieces.
The bomber and the bag were the investment pieces in my outfit shown above.
So for the this look, I paired a pair of €50 mid-rise jeans and a €12 choker top with the bomber jacket and backless loafers for a casual look, pair up with a pair of heels for a dressier night out kind of look. What I love about this jacket is that it’s a great summer to autumn transition piece. It’s lightweight enough to wear on summer nights, but still offers enough warmth for cooler days. Although I think the jacket will be added quite soon!
I finished the look off with a small quilted lambs leather bag from Michael Kors that I scored in the sales for €134. I fell in love with the small shape of this bag and so, of course, I had to had it to my collection. You can shop similar styles in Zara, Mango or even TK Maxx! Toss on a pair of aviators and you’re ready for a night out on the town!
